-Reread "Our Good Day" chapter from Mango as a group reading
-Quick discussion: simile, metaphor, personification, alliteration, sensory detail--you should know these!
-Read Mango Street to page 55
-Worktime for Journal booklet. Make sure sections 1-4 are completed, about a page in length each! I will look at these on Monday to make sure you are up to date.

       Simile: Comparing two things using Like or As.

      “My papa’s hair is like a broom.”

       Metaphor: Comparing two things without using Like or As.

      “My mother’s hair is the warm smell of bread.”

       Personification: Giving human qualities to something non-human.

      “And me, my hair is lazy.”

       Alliteration: Repeating similar consonant sounds within a phrase.

      She sells sea shells by the sea shore.

       Sensory Detail: Images and details that emphasize our senses (sight, sound, smell, taste, touch) to recreate a scene for the reader

      “The snoring, the rain, and Mama’s hair that smells like bread.”
